This was my first working experience!
It happened from August 2012 to February 2013 😀
Some words to describe it?
Learning, learning and learning.
I could learn about working with creative agents, analysing data from Nielsen and Board, the Wholesalers channel, the beverage industry…
<< I worked as an intern for the Wholesalers channel within the Trade Marketing Department of Bacardi Spain >>
What did you like the most about this experience?
Actually what I liked the most was the fact that I was having a 360º view of the company. Let me explain you why:
I was working as a trade marketer, an area between marketing and sales, in the wholesalers channel, a channel combining both On and Off Trade (involving B2B and B2C strategies), what allowed me to have an overview for all the different brands within different channels.
I am passionate about marketing, and during my time in Bacardi, I was able to work on the marketing strategy of prestigious brands such as Martini, Bacardi, Bombay or Eristoff. Furthermore, I carried on deep analysis about competitors for each product (gin, rhum, vodka…) for each client (Cash&Carry, Miquel Alimentacio…) and each market area (Northern Spain, Centre, Southern…)
Which specific tasks did you have there?
Let´s divide them by two:
Excel became one of my bests friends, as I had to update market data, compare it to KPI´s, take a look at the new promotions offered by competitors…
–Direct contact with creative agencies, POS managers and my marketing colleagues to prepare packagings, creativities for displays and other POS materials, make sure that everything was used properly and respecting each brand.
And another task that I really enjoyed was that, during Christmas time, all employees from Bacardi got the chance to be even more involved and work as brand promoters facing the final customer. This was a great experience to present the promotions we had prepared and see their effect on customers. And I received a diploma!
What did they think about my work?
Take a look to the link above to read my mentor´s opinion about my work there. It is in Spanish, anyway, it shows a scale from 1 to 5 for different aspects, from which proactivity and problem-solving are some of the highlights.
